Chef Lisa Beels has been cooking professionally for over 10 years. Lisa first Graduated Ithaca College cum Laude, and later attended Cordon Bleu in London, England. After returning to New York City, Lisa found work as a personal chef and small caterer. She also worked at Simon and Schuster in cookbook publicity, where she met her future Petite Palate Gourmet Baby Food business partner, Christine Naylor (who attended the California Culinary Academy in San Fransisco).
Both had a love of cooking and children and a desire to help every family eat healthy. In this spirit, they co-founded Petite Palate, a gourmet baby food company. In addition to raising her son, Dane (5) and Annalise (6 months), Lisa has maintained her personal chef and catering business Haute Palate, co-authored, The Petite Palate Guide to Homemade Baby Food, and continues to teach cooking classes in the NYC tri-state area.
Lisa and Christine have appeared in numerous TV cooking segments and have authored many food and family-centered articles in print and online. They are currently working on their next book about family meals. Stay tuned!
Chef Lisa moved to Long Island City, NY and teamed up with Susan Gurnett, her current Haute Palate Sous Chef. Chef Susan is a loving mother of two (Max, 5 and Ava, 3) as well as an avid gourmand who graduated with a BS in Marketing from NYU Stern School of Business. Susan has never lost her appreciation and passion for food. Having been raised Korean-American, the Eastern philosophy of balance and harmony was an underlying theme of her childhood. Every meal was unique and special, prepared with only fresh ingredients and each meal was not simply a means of nourishment, but also a means to enrich and heal body and mind. Chef Susan brings this philosophy with every meal she cooks for her clients.
